Apart from the desire to follow in the footsteps of the great and the good, the ambience is fantastic, the staff are friendly and the food is both fresh and mouth-watering. Bora Bora is a very expensive place to stay, so the check for dinner and drinks will be substantial. However, for a restaurant of this quality in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, it's worth it.”
“The fact that diners are more likely to park a yacht than a car says as much about the island's geography as it does about the type of guest.”
“There is no better place in the Pacific to get a burger or steak than Bloody Mary's.”
“It’s easy to see why everyone on the island suggests eating here at least once.”
“As for drinks, the namesake cocktail is absolutely delicious with great spice.”
“Bora Bora has been here for millions of years--between 3 and 4 million it's estimated. It has been inhabited by Polynesians for some 12 centuries and governed by France since the mid-1800s. But it really wasn't on the map until the American military build-up during World War II. And it didn't arrive, I mean really, really arrive, until people like Cameron Diaz and Brendan Fraser started eating fish 'n' chips and tortilla pies at Bloody Mary's, an American-style hamburger bar with sand piles for flooring.”
“Actually, Sandy said, there was a sort-of bar called Bloody Mary's during the war; and on the way up to the guns he showed us the abandoned metal bunker where it used to be. The new one, the one everybody from Gerard Depardieu to Jimmy Buffett has the hots for these days, is on the paved circle-island drive about 3 miles south of Vaitape. It opened in 1979 with five tables and has grown considerably.”
“The wine list is excellent and the waiters will help choose a label that suits the meal perfectly. The food is of an exceptionally high standard, and few plates are returned with any more than a lobster shell remaining.”
